Our Lady of Guadalupe

Most Catholics know the story of St. Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our Lady has a special meaning for me (Jen). After my mother died, ten years ago, Our Lady brought me closer to God. It was a hard time for me and through prayer and reflection I was able to get through the tough time while strengthening my faith. Then, in 2019, my son was born on December 12th. Our priest at that time prayed he would be born on that day. I went into labor early on December 11th but my labor stopped just in time to delay him being born until the 12th. This day has a special place for our family. We completed two crafts to make a table blessing for Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Felt Roses in a vase

We found a great Our Lady of Guadalupe vase at our local Albertsons.

Materials: red and white felt ribbon; hot glue gun; green dowel rods (thin), green poster board, construction paper, or felt

We put hot glue on the very end of the felt ribbon and rolled the stick to secure it.

The girls rolled the felt ribbon around the stem, each layer going slightly under the one before.

We cut out leaves and hot glued the leaves to the stem. We used a clothespin to secure the leaves until the hot glue dried.

The finished product!
